To my utter astonishment Music Web International have marked this up as possibly their candidate for best recording of the year... "it's that good!"
Is this still Planet ...
It's good to see Gramophone getting something right for once.
An excellent performance and recording.
Great to have En Saga at last in hi-rez.
I buy all of Steinbacher's discs as a matter of course. In this case I felt that there was little of note in her new recording to add anything worthwhile here as ...
Glad to have provided some unintentional amusement!
I liked this very much. The Petrouchka recording uses surround channels in an ambient manner and the other recordings are certainly more discrete and the sound itself is very ...
Soulless. Definitely the worst of OSO's collaboration with Pentatone. There is some sort of ambient hum in Symphony 64. No interpretive insights. Avoid.
The disc is certainly getting a lot of air time over here so will likely feature in UK "Top Ten" charts soon! It's the kind of disc that I hate instinctively but the Christmas ...

I wonder if Dynamic range will be the same as on infamous 2003 so called remasters or better?
I have finally inspected this disc:
Please, pay ATTENTION to these references -
the former is done by myself just yesterday evening and the comparison with the latter proves that resolution AFFECTS dynamics (not vastly but significantly).
Also the latter is not by me but someone, who is probably better equipped than me :-)
Nevertheless these releases are still far from the original dynamics present on the first Japanese double CD release VJD 25009~10 or very fine UK release CDVD 2513.
The Japanese double CD in a fat box slightly differs from Uk single release in that respect of the exact copy of the vinyl release where audience noise is cut off on the Japanese while UK release has audience mixed in at places where vinyl omits it. No big deal, but I like Japanese double CDs.
Conclusion: all this post is to support better remastering of the recorded music at the dawn of the digital era.
