I ordered this disc almost as an afterthought. It has turned out to be one of the most remarkable discs that I have ever encountered of any genre.

I'd never heard of Rheinberger. I had heard of E Power Biggs, indeed I have several of his pedal harpsichord LPs.

The whole thing is a veritable tour de force. The music varies from melodic through to majestic. The recording is fabulous, the orchestra is in the front speakers with ambiance in the rears. The organ is in full blown quadraphonic using all four speakers to very good effect - tonally gorgeous, and with some seriously deep bass.

I imagine it would be a DR fanatic's dream. The quiet bits are quiet. The loud bits are thundering.

Superb mastering by Michael Dutton, and a veritable bargain at the price. The other discs in the series are good too.
