I can see where you are coming from. Litton was able to bring the Bergen Phil to life in a way that seems to escape Mr Gardner although to be fair Litton had many years tenure ...
Everyone to their own, but Gardner is one of a number of current conductors who never quite do it for me - everything sound enough but seldom anything life changing in its ...
Thanks for the recommendations. This SACD is on my Presto Classical wishlist. Looking forward to playing it loud on my Magnepan 20.7s.
Even though it's clearly marked as SACD on the disk itself, my player will not recognize it as an SACD. Strange. I don't think it's my player b/c I don't have this problem ...

Another excellent SACD from the Tower Records Japan and ECM collaboration.
Again the DSD remaster has been done by Christoph Stickel in 01/2017.
The sound of this title is warmer than the Koln Concert SACD and not quite as detailed. Maybe the tape stock used for the recording was not of as high quality. Still it sounds wonderful and is very analogue in character. Separation and sound staging is excellent. There is also little evidence of compression.
Get it while you can.
I will second the previous reviewers comments. Spot on in their assessment of this fine SACD release by guitarist Pat Metheny.
