Can it get any better than this? Knappertsbusch's association with Parsifal was a long one and this is considered by many to be the very best of his recordings of this work. The sound is wonderful and I am simply not able to stop playing it. The SACD set is expensive, but only would I spend the extra on such a release. For fans and devotees of this work, this is truly mesmerising. If you are devotee of Wagner and Knappertsbusch, this Parsifal is one for the ages. Sublime.

So I'm not a particular fan of Knappertsbusch and I don't love Jess Thomas, but this is a tremendous performance and recording all around.
