This early ECM release (ECM 1009) was recorded 11, 12 and 13 January 1971 at Tonstudio Bauer by engineer Kurt Rapp. Audio recording and the studio's piano are much better-sounding than the 1970 sessions recorded in New York and released on "Song of Singing", and the quartet sessions with Anthony Braxton subsequently released on "Circulus" and "Circling In".
ARC is an interesting choice for reissue in this series.
