Como una ola de fuerza y luz (1971-72) is the culmination of Luigi Nono's politically engaged compositional phase, while .....sofferte onde serene... (1975-77) marks the beginning of a subtle and serene new aesthetic orientation. Both works are presented here in highly expressive interpretations that give special attention to the tape parts, revealing many previously unheard sonic materials. Most importantly, the recording of .....sofferte onde serene... uses a newly produced reconstruction of the original stereo tape, which has not been available since Maurizio Pollini's first recording.

Composed after a period of profound study of Nono's sketches and compositional techniques, Paulo de Assis's unfolding waves… con luigi nono (2012) is a reflection on "listening" through the exploration of multiple temporalities, fragmented timbres, indiscernible sounds, and labyrinthine movements of sound in space.

Where is the information from that this is an SACD release? Thus far I've taken this to be a regular CD issue. Does anybody have it to confirm?

I have it in possession. It is a SACD

Wow. Thanks.

Longjohns, did you get ever a copy of this album on SACD? At present, none of our affiliated vendors indicates that it is an SACD.

PrestoClassical is carrying non-SACD hi-res releases from Kairos, one of which I can recommend: pieces for ensemble proton bern by Swiss composer Dominique Schafer who, sadly, is recently deceased.

I did. Ordered from Presto, with Kairos catalogue number KAI0015022 as above. There's nothing on the case, whether on the back or the front, to indicate it's an SACD or in DSD, but the disc itself carries the logo and it's correctly identified as a hybrid SACD by my players. A surprisingly wonderful release (everything thus far have been disappointments next to the original DG recordings of these works, with Slavka Taskova, Abbado, and Pollini, but this is good: very committed and capable), and top notch music of course -- European cultural history made alive again.

And thanks for the tip; will have to check that one out.

Thanks for confirming, Longjohns. Koppel: String Quartets, Mezzo Saxophone Quintet - Sjælland String Quartet is another release not labeled SACD on the packaging or the disc label, but it is an SACD.

Some older SACD releases are becoming scarce. It's worth the effort to make sure the product is as described.

Mark Werlin, I know my earlier comment to confirm this is a SACD was short, but it is a confirmation nonetheless ;-)

Thanks for the confirmation, Fausto. Kairos released only a small number of SACDs, but they continue to produce recordings of 20th and 21st century music. Presto lists 180 titles, some of which are available as 24-bit downloads.
