Many lines we written here, there and everywhere about the"uselessness" of transfering early digital to HR formats..and Motoaki Omachi proves all these written lines to be wrong....
Só, why is DG waiting for, in order to release all Karajan early 80's recordings AND the Bernstein Mahler Cycle...?
Karajan Vienna Bruckner 8th was also released by Esotéric...
Comments...?

I agree with you that this transfer of Kleiber's "Tristan" is wonderful. I listened to it on Sennheiser HD800 headphones and the recording was crystal clear, quiet, warm. Obviously it's not just about upping the bit rate; Esoteric did far more than that. (They have 2 new digital recordings already announced.) So it is possible to make the old digital 16 bit recordings sound better than they did when first released. It will require judicious and careful remixing. Hopefully DG will do it. Esoteric here has shown that they can improve on the original.
