I have just heard from my seller and it is now in the mail. Very excited to get this. Could be the coolest SACD packaging ever!
Phew! Recorded in 1978, but sounds like yesterday. The Japanese sure know how to look after their master tapes.
The remaster was done by Bob Ludwig at Gateway in the USA. The ...
Is this really the first SACD surround recording of Bartok's opera as Chandos claims? I have a recording conducted by Ivan Fischer, first released as a conventional CD by ...
Adrian, that's very exciting news. I've had the Pentatone box for some time now and feel it is one of the jewels of their catalogue. Both Kodama and Pentatone deserve credit ...
As far as I know, Chandos records in PCM and this one, I believe, was originally recorded at 16 bit 44 khz and transferred to DSD for SACD production.
With the possible exception of one track, this is a warm glowing ember of an album.
DSD mastered by Christoph Stickel, 07/2017 and the sound is very good.
It was clearly ...
Gergiev also recorded the work on LSO live and it is in multichannel.
As far as Gardner's set, I'm sorry to say Michelle DeYoung is one of my least favorite singers. Yet she ...

Does anybody know what the current state of play is with this title - This (and Girlfriend) are no longer listed as SACD coming soon on the Intervention Records site and previous indications were that they were slated to come out this month...from memory.
The Intervention Records thread over at Hoffman's stated that they have cancelled a bunch of Sacd's and are now concentrating on vinyl. Apparently some titles were not getting big enough pre-orders. I can't remember if this is one of those affected or not.
I don't know the validity to this next piece of (unrelated) news, but there was someone saying that Sony will not license out any of their titles anymore. As I said I don't know this as a fact.
certainly very sad if the other Matthew Sweet titles have been binned and if true about Sony, I guess we can only hope that Sony becomes something of a little red hen and starts up a more vigorous SACD issue schedule on its own account.
Part of the problem was due to Pledge Music. As PM apparently spent money that was not theirs to keep, these re-issues were collateral damage.
