When Ondine do decide to release a new SA-CD it is usually very good indeed and recorded in DSD. Lintu has been outstanding in previous releases of his Sibelius survey so we should expect another winner this Tims especially as SA-CD are now so rare from this source.

Only downside is that Ondine also recorded Kullervo with Segerstam and the Helsinki Philharmonic not so long ago which remains the best version on SA-CD and will be hard to beat. Maybe they know something we don't?

I completely agree, every new SA-CD from Ondine is a special event.

On the basis of the short samples at Presto this recording will offer far more spirited performance of the work compared to Segerstam (listen to the beginning of the 3rd and the 4th mvts, for instance). That is only a good thing because the composer was a young man at the time of the composition and was at the peak of his powers. I’m brave enough to claim that for many this newcomer will surpass Segerstam’s alternative.

Ondine will release hybrid multi-channel SACD (5.0) set of Beethoven's Symphonies (ODE 1348-5Q) performed by Malmö Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Trevino: https://naxosdirect.com/items/the-9-symphonies-537137. According to the Ondine website the recordings were produced by Ingo Petry, renowned by his Take5 productions for BIS: https://www.ondine.net/?lid=en&cid=1&oid=6345. Looks great!
