It’s glad to see Deutsche Grammophon has presumably expanded its Surround Sound Blu-ray Audio releases, this one comes in DTS-HD Master Audio featuring both 2.0 and 5.1 Surround Sound options. The analogue recordings have been newly remastered by Emil Berliner Studios in 24-bit / 192 kHz.

I thought these days only Universal Japan used Emil Berliner to remaster their DG catalog? Has Universal in Europe patched things up with them?

Obviously wonders never cease! - It seems that Universal finally decided to use Emil Berliner Studios (again) instead of MSM Munich for remastering DG recordings. The latest BluRay releases (e.g. Beethoven Missa solemnis/Karajan; Beethoven Cello sonatas/Fournier&Gulda; Debussy/Michelangeli) based on new EBS remastering.

The major advantage of the new Universal offerings is in my opinion that all new albums are also available as hires-download (24/192).

Let's keep our fingers crossed that Universal is going on this way!

Can anyone confirm that there is a surround option on this disc?

Amfortas, just look at the information at Presto Music. has the following data: 2.0 and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio (24-bit / 192 kHz)

What a disappointment, an unique opportunity missed; Carlos Kleiber’s recording of Weber’s Der Freischütz will be released by Universal on Blu-ray Audio (remastered in 24-bit / 192 kHz) but sadly only in stereo:

Yet Universal released Strauss: Die Fledermaus - Kleiber with surround sound options (5.1 DTS-HD MA 24-bit / 192 kHz & Dolby Atmos 24-bit / 48 kHz)...
Does not give much extra compared to already released CD and stereo Japanese SA-CD reissue...

Due for release on 12th Jun 2020. Already listed on multiple vendors as pre-order, including Amazon.

Just to confirm the Blu-ray Audio options are:
DTS-HD 2.0 24bit 192kHz
DTS-HD 4.0 24bit 192kHz
Dolby Atmos 24bit 48kHz (which is listed as Dolby TrueHD 7.1 if your player does not recognise Dolby Atmos)
