I have this one. It was released in July. And if you have this one, then you know all about it. This is something for those who have everything, or almost everything, recorded by John Coltrane. The sound here is good, for what it is. You certainly gain an appreciation for Elvin Jones's drumming.
But to me, the real prize here is the booklet, a real treasure trove of information. There is a rather lengthy piece by Reggie Workman on the band in 1961, and he mentions why he left the band that December. His parents were doing poorly. His dad had cancer and his mother was struggling. He left the band to look after his parents. How wonderful! Regie still going at 86.
