This recording has a unique Viennese flavour that even Karajan misses in both his attempts, a great achievement by Ackermann although not flawless : one could have hoped a true soprano star as Rosalinde instead of a however very good Gerda Scheyrer and the big aria from Christa Ludwig is ununderstandably abridged!
The CDs were already excellent preserving all the qualities of the analogue recording.
This Sacd version was not really necessary and is not fully satisfying : the orchestra and the voices sound a little bit bigger but with a loss of bloom.
Fortunately the magic of that recording is preserved but any Cfp CDs ("Classic for pleasure") is a true bargain instead!
