Humble set for humble listener. Warm sound with conservative performances. Perhaps Masur's smooth views aren't ideal for everybody but one finds many things to enjoy. Hunting horns in "Pastoral Symphony" (3rd movement) or piccolo flute in "Fate Symphony" (4th movement) are honestly impressive. Bernd Ruge produced a fine sound although some inner details were lost. Essential listening, nevertheless.
