I think you'll find that the 48 microphones bit refers to the original recording not the remastering (or upsampling as you put it), otherwise we'd be dealing with a recording of the original recording as played back on loudspeakers, and obviously it also refers to the orchestral recordings, not these violin sonatas. I too think there are some genuine nuggets in this catalog: Jane Glover's Haydn, all of the Mackerras recordings, O'Hora's Mozart concertos, and a number of others. I don't think anyone's going to claim the recorded sound is as good as a new hi-res multichannel recording, but considering that we have folks here who'll pay big bucks for the latest remastering of something recorded in glorious mono 70 years ago some of these are quite a bargain.
