Hansjörg Albrecht (organ)

Hansjörg Albrecht’s series of arrangements for organ are not only a success with organ aficionados, but with many other audiences. The release of the four “Clavier-Übungen” by J.S. Bach is a sort of “series within a series”. Parts III (“Orgelmesse”) and IV (Goldberg Variations) have already appeared. This CD of Part II includes the “Italian Concerto” as well as the “French Overture”.

The program is complemented by other Bach compositions, including two of his greatest sets of variations: the Passacaglia in C Minor for organ and the famous Chaconne in D Minor for Solo Violin in the arrangement by Arno Landmann.

Organist, harpsichordist and conductor Hansjörg Albrecht appears as a soloist in major concert halls and cathedrals throughout the world; he has made guest appearances with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, St Luke’s Chamber Orchestra New York, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Santa Cecilia Rom, the Camerata Salzburg and the BR Symphonieorchester.

Hansjörg Albrecht is also the Artistic Director of the Münchener Bach-Chor and the Münchener Bach-Orchester. As a conductor, he has worked with such artists as Arabella Steinbacher, Annette Dasch and Sharon Kam as well as with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI Turin, the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Gächinger Kantorei and the Bach Collegium Stuttgart.
