Strangely, no reviews or comments on this yet. A marvelous set that I am happy to have in my collection!

When and where were these symphonies recorded? Are they genuine recently recorded SACD or re-masters?

Comment by Jan Arell - April 2, 2018 (3 of 10)

You will find reviews by John Broggio for seven of the nine symphonies if you search for 'Bruckner Blomstedt'.
They were recorded live at das Gewandhaus between 2005 and 2012 in mch. I can't find any information in the booklets on how they were recorded. Anyway the box set is marvellous. Unfortunately it's getting hard to find.

I found a review at the old site

Each of the "traditional" nine symphonies was recorded in public concert(s) in the Gewandhaus concert hall of Leipzig, Germany. They are all genuine high-resolution, multichannel surround sound master recordings. And IMO the finest integral set of Bruckner symphonies. Period. FWIW.

I have six of these discs and they are excellent. Blomstedt and his orchestra are magnificent. The multi-ch recordings are very fine. In that regard I am especially fond of the string sound in the second movement of the second symphony. Actually the treble in general is beyond excellent in this movement.

I am so glad I scooped this up as the complete box when I did and if you can find it at a reasonable price, just do it. It is really marvelous and time stands still!!

This marvellous box set is presently for sale at ”Swedish ebay”, tradera.com. Not cheap.

Another recommendation for this set. Absolutely marvelous in every way.

Amazon are advertising one for sale at £680. A snip for any Bruckner fans out there.

Seriously, should posters be making recommendations for a disc set that is beyond everyone's reach monetarily?

I recently purchased Esoteric's edition of the complete Ring with Solti conducting. I bought it for $50,000 on Uzbekistan's Ebay. I'm listening to it on my $1,000,000 sound system with monoblock amplifiers so powerful the lights of my town dim slightly when I turn them on. While I'm sipping a glass of Dom Pérignon champagne that my butler kindly poured for me, I'm reading your comment, Hiredfox. And I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean.
